Audio Storytelling & Podcasting
Capacity Building Workshops

What happens when we truly listen to each other and create space for authentic human connection through story?
At Digital Storytellers, we believe in the power of storytelling to forge connection with people from different walks of life, both through the process of sharing stories and listening to the stories of others.
Our Audio Storytelling and Podcasting Workshops gives teams, communities and organisations the skills to create compelling audio stories, to connect and share with diverse audiences and stakeholders.
Perfect for organisations, communities and teams who want to:
- Engage audiences with audio stories, outside of the crowded social media video landscape
- Amplify community voices and stories through an accessible and impactful medium
- Equip participants with transferable media and listening skills
- Capture community history and oral archiving projects
- Highlight issues, people and history for internal communications
- Bring people together to work together creatively and collaboratively
How the program works
Who participates?
We suggest bringing together a group of up to 20 team members or community members
What will the workshops cover?
Across two to five guided workshops:
- Participants will learn how to interview, record high quality audio, develop an engaging story and edit
- Participants sharing their stories will be supported to connect with their own stories, share their experiences, wisdom, and perspectives.
- Participants will also practice deep listening and learn to ask questions that matter.
What will participants create?
At the end of the process participants will have created:
- A collection of short (2-5 minute) audio stories that can be shared with the wider community through public launch events, activations, social media and online platforms. Listen to an example here.
- A series of photos to accompany audio stories
- A longer-form audio documentary connecting all participant stories
Digital Storytellers can also support the creation of:
- A short audio and/or video teaser (approx 1-2 minutes) to promote audio stories
- A public in-person launch event with listening stations, exhibitions and other activations

We encourage participants to make use of equipment that they will have continuing access to - whether this is a smartphone or access to a recording studio (e.g. in a library or internal organisational facilities)
